STATE TREASURER EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE
|
Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins Thanks Staff on Public Employee Recognition Week
|
(TOPEKA) - Today, Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA, publicly thanked all State Treasurer office employees for their service to the State of Kansas. A ceremony was held at the State Treasurer's office on May 8, in conjunction with the National Public Service Recognition Week.
"All too often, the contributions made by public employees to our democracy are forgotten- not only by our fellow citizens but even by those of us who serve," said State Treasurer Jenkins. "Kansans owe a debt of gratitude to all state employees for their contributions to the growth of our fine state."
Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was re-elected to her second term as Kansas State Treasurer on Nov. 7, 2006. During her time as Treasurer, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest and oversaw the re-bidding of the program, returned an average of $9 million a year in unclaimed property to Kansans, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner.
