TOPEKA - Today, Nancy Lawson, a Senior Administrative Specialist in the Bond Services Division, was honored for her 27 years of service to the State by Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA.
"Nancy's dedication to the State Treasurer's office and to the citizens of the State of Kansas should be commended," Jenkins said. "On behalf of all the State Treasurer employees both past and present, please accept our heartfelt thank you for your service to the people of Kansas and all the best wishes for a well deserved retirement."
Lawson was presented with a walnut plaque in the shape of Kansas with the State seal and an inscription noting her years of service to the State.
Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was re-elected to her second term as Kansas State Treasurer on Nov. 7, 2006. During her time as Treasurer, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest and oversaw the re-bidding of the program, returned an average of $9 million a year in unclaimed property to Kansans, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner.
