STATE TREASURER JENKINS ELECTED TO NATIONAL ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP
Jenkins was elected as the Senior Vice President of the National Association of State Treasurers
(TOPEKA, Kan.) - Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA was elected to serve as the Senior Vice President of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) at the recent annual meeting held in West Virginia. She will take office during the fall of 2006 and will serve until the fall of 2007 when she will become the president of the organization.

"I am honored to be elected by my fellow state treasurers across the country," Jenkins said. "I will use this opportunity to learn from others across our country and use this knowledge to benefit all Kansans by enhancing the services and products offered by the Kansas State Treasurer's office."

As the Senior Vice President she will serve as president-elect and fulfill duties assigned to her by the NAST president.

Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was elected Treasurer on Nov. 5, 2002. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner. Since being sworn into office in January 2003, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office.
