(TOPEKA) - Today, Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA, publicly thanked all treasurer employees for their service to the State of Kansas. A ceremony was held at the State Treasurer's office on May 2, in conjunction with the national Public Service Recognition Week. The National Association of State Personnel Executives sponsors State Employee Recognition Day to recognize the outstanding work of state government employees across the country.
"State employees play an important role in the lives of Kansans and the employees of the State Treasurer's Office are no exception," Treasurer Jenkins said. "I am proud to represent this office and its extraordinary employees."
The Treasurer and her management team provided various baked goods and snacks for the employees and donated prizes for a drawing as additional ways to show appreciation.
Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was elected Treasurer on Nov. 5, 2002. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner. Since being sworn into office in January 2003, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office.
