Treasurer Announces another Certified Public Manager in Office
Kathy Priest completed the program after one year of training

Treasurer announces another Certified Public Manager in the Office
(TOPEKA, Kan.) - Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA is proud to announce the recent certification of Kathy Priest as a Certified Public Manager (CPM). Priest is the Deputy Director of Unclaimed Property for the State Treasurer's office. The Unclaimed Property division returned over $7.2 million in property and cash to its rightful owners throughout Kansas in 2004.

"I am very pleased that Kathy completed this training," Treasurer Jenkins said. "She does a great job as the Deputy Director and the education she received will further enhance her services to the citizens of Kansas."

Priest studied for 12 months at the KU Management Center attending classes in management principles and practices, legislative process, civil service design and structure, and other essential organizational behavior components. As a graduate of the Kansas CPM program, Priest is eligible for membership to the American Academy of Certified Public Managers. Kansas' program complies with guidelines and standards established by the National Certified Public Manager Consortium and its curriculum requirements.

Priest has been with the Treasurer's office for nearly five years and lives in Carbondale with her husband, Richard.

Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was elected Treasurer on Nov. 5, 2002. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner. Since being sworn into office in January 2003, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office.
