TOPEKA - Today, June E. Long, an Administrative Specialist in the Cash Management Division, was honored for her 42 years of service to the state by Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins.
"June has been instrumental in helping make this office run so efficiently," Jenkins said. "Her dedication to the Treasurer's office and to the citizens of the State of Kansas should be commended."
"On behalf of all the State Treasurer employees both past and present, please accept our heartfelt thank you for your service to the people of Kansas and all the best wishes for a well deserved retirement," Jenkins added.
During the office-wide celebration, Long was presented with a walnut plaque in the shape of Kansas with the state seal and an inscription noting more than 42 years of service.
Jenkins, a former State Representative and Senator from Topeka, was elected Treasurer on Nov. 5, 2002. She is a Certified Public Accountant and former small business owner. Since being sworn into office in January 2003, Jenkins has expanded investment options in Learning Quest, initiated multiple financial literacy programs, and eliminated the reliance on state general fund dollars to operate the office.
