Topeka - Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins, CPA, today formally announced the newest addition to her staff. Joshua Lewis will serve as an intern during the 2004 legislative session and will be charged with assisting staff with media relations and financial literacy initiatives.
"Joshua is a wonderful addition to our team and he will bring a lot of energy to the job," said Treasurer Jenkins. "We are going to have some major issues to contend with during this legislative session and I am confident that Joshua's knowledge of the legislative process will be a major asset to our office and will benefit the people of Kansas."
Lewis is currently a senior at Kansas State University where he will graduate in May 2004 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and is a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. His previous experience includes working in State Senator Ruth Teichman's Topeka office and U.S. Senator Pat Roberts' Washington, D.C. office.
"I am excited about the opportunities that exist by joining Treasurer Jenkins' team. Mixing my financial education and legislative understanding in this capacity will present new challenges and learning experiences," said Lewis.
Jenkins was elected Treasurer on November 5, 2002 after serving as a State Representative and a State Senator from Topeka. She ran for office pledging to expand Learning Quest, create a financial literacy program for children and make the Treasurer's office more accessible to all Kansans.
