To teach students about the importance of sound personal financial practices the Kansas State Treasurer's office will be co-sponsoring a Money$mart Financial Management Camp this Friday, October 16th at Truesdell Middle School in Wichita.
Kansas State Treasurer Dennis McKinney believes in the importance of encouraging fiscal responsibility for all Kansans. "One of the biggest advantages we can provide our children is a basic education in finances," said McKinney. "This outreach educates students on responsible use of a credit card, saving, budgeting, and cash management."
Money$mart is a financial management camp created in partnership with the Kansas Credit Union Association specifically for Kansas middle school students. Chris Wolgamott with the South Central Credit Unions has worked closely with the Principal of Truesdell Middle School, Jennifer Sinclair to make this event possible.
Money$mart Camp will be held on Friday, October 16th from 8am to 3pm at Truesdell Middle School. Participants in the Money$mart camp will include approximately 70 students in 8th grade.
