In our current economic situation, Kansans are taking a close look at their finances. To help women in the Topeka area navigate personal financial decisions, the Kansas State Treasurer's office will be co-sponsoring a Women and Money Series. The Women and Money Series will begin September 24th and occur every Thursday evening until November 12th . Each session will be held at Washburn University and begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Kansas State Treasurer Dennis McKinney believes in the importance of encouraging fiscal responsibility for all Kansans. "Helping Kansas citizens to make responsible financial decisions will promote financial growth and healthier families well into the future," McKinney said. "Financial knowledge is the key to empowering an individual or family to become more financially secure and independent."
The Women and Money Series is a financial management camp created in partnership with Housing and Credit Counseling, Inc (HCCI) designed specifically for Kansas women in this area. This financial management series is made possible by partners at The Women's Fund, and Washburn University.
Women participating in The Women and Money Series will receive information concerning a variety of financial topics. Each evening a local expert will speak on financial topics including; buying and saving decisions, budgeting, smart borrowing, insurance, investing, and financially caring for loved ones. Women of all ages and income levels are invited to attend and gain the tools they need to increase their fiscal confidence and take their finances to the next level.
In addition to the adult program, a kids program will run concurrently. A limited number of slots are available for children who are potty trained to age 12. Trained providers will assist the children in money related activities and snacks will be provided.
