During these difficult economic times Americans are looking for a sound financial future. Kansas State Treasurer Dennis McKinney is pleased to provide free on-line tools to help Kansans get back on their feet through the use of a money management resource called Tomorrow's Money.
"Tomorrow's Money is a free resource for Kansans looking for assistance in setting and reaching their personal financial goals," said McKinney. "Helping Kansas citizens to make responsible financial decisions will promote financial growth and healthier families well into the future," McKinney said.
As part of this program, participants can complete on-line worksheets to help them financially with whatever life circumstance they may be experiencing. The tool is designed to answer questions about saving and investing no matter what stage of life you are in; the young couple, the busy professional, the care-giver, those coping with job-loss, and those dealing with the financial aspects of losing a spouse. By answering just a few short questions this site provides information and ideas about how to reach financial goals.
This site provides:
- budget worksheets;
- how to make a personal or family budget work;
- tips for bill paying;
- ideas to save for college;
- information on mortgage lending;
- warnings about scams;
- long term care insurance suggestions;
- credit reports; and
- information on foreclosures.
"No matter where you are financially the information contained within this web page will allow you to begin taking steps now for the future," McKinney explained. "Knowledge is the key to empowering an individual or family to become more financially secure and independent. These financial tools will help Kansans stretch their money to work harder for them."
These financial planning resources are available in English and Spanish from the State Treasurer's homepage, www.kansasstatetreasurer.com. Tomorrow's Money is a strictly nonprofit website. Nothing is bought or sold on the site and users' privacy is strictly protected.
Treasurer McKinney partnered with the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association Foundation (SIFMA) which provides basic, easily-accessible information on personal finance concepts including confidence, motivation, knowledge and skill-building to help individuals begin to save and invest.
