Message from Lynn:
Dear Friends:
We all hope we will never have to use it. We think, "I'll pay the premium, but I'm not going to need this insurance policy." Whether the insurance is for our home, automobile, life or personal liability, insurance is a necessity in our lives, and in some cases, required by law. There are many advantages to insurance, but there are just as many questions that you need to ask yourself.
- What type of insurance do you need to make sure your family is protected?
- What can you afford to pay each month?
- Is your life-style one that would require more or less coverage?
- What resources do you want to leave your family with should you pass away?
- Do I need the same kind of coverage at different stages of my life?
May's edition of MoneyWise will help you answer all of these questions and probably raise a few more for you to ponder. It is recommended to review all insurance policies on a yearly basis, just as I encourage the yearly evaluation of all financial investments. A service my office offers is free financial planning seminars in various Kansas cities. We invite local and respected professionals to talk to attendees about estate planning and insurance, offer taxation tips, and a number of other topics to help Kansans fully understand their financial options. Watch my website for a seminar held near you. Another resource available to you is the Kansas Insurance Department. Commissioner Sandy Praeger and her staff are ready to help answer your questions and offer a number of great resources on their website. Call their Consumer Assistance Hotline at 1-800-432-2484 or visit www.ksinsurance.org.
It is my honor to serve as your Kansas State Treasurer. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
