Message from Lynn:
Dear Friends:
The countdown is on! Income tax statements are due to the Internal Revenue Service. April 15 is the magic day that all returns must be postmarked. To help you take your mind off this dreaded date, here's a history lesson. Tax day wasn't always April 15. It used to be earlier in the year. When the 16th amendment was passed in 1913 giving the federal government legal authority to tax citizens the original date tax returns were due was March 1. Five years later it was changed to March 15 and finally in 1955 it was changed to April 15.
The IRS offers information on their website to help you through common questions and issues that may (will) arise while filling out the different required forms. It is a very helpful site, http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/content/0,,id=104608,00.html, and I encourage you to visit it.
