Our Philosophy:
The Office of the Kansas State Treasurer will act in accordance with Kansas laws maintaining the highest standards of
ethics and accountability. We take seriously our fiduciary responsibilities. We will strive to achieve non-tax revenues
through the use of safe and sound financial practices which provide safety and increased earnings, always taking into
account cost effectiveness and efficiency.
The State Treasurer is one of six state officials elected every four years. The Treasurer is responsible for the timely
receipt and deposit of all receipts and revenues into the state treasury, and as a member of the Pooled Money Investment
Board, sees to the prudent investment of State and local monies to provide optimum levels of safety, liquidity and yield.
The Treasurer also serves on the committee on Surety Bonds and Insurance, which assures appropriate coverage for the State
of Kansas. The Treasurer is also a statutory member of the KPERS Board of Trustees.
