Scott Gates
serves the citizens of Kansas as Director for the Learning Quest® 529 Education Savings Program and as the agency's General Counsel. Gates is charged with overseeing the programs daily operations, which encompasses over 80,000 accounts with over $1 billion in assets.
Prior to joining Jenkins' team, Gates worked as a Staff Attorney for the Kansas Department of Administration for 12 years and served as a Research Attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals for two years.
Gates is a native Kansan and a graduate of Sumner Academy in Kansas City, Kans, The University of Kansas and the University Of Kansas School of Law. Gates is an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, his local church and his son's Cub Scout pack. He and his wife, Kathleen, live in Lawrence with their two sons, Michael, 8, and David, 5. He has been a Learning Quest account holder since 2001.
